• DUAN Baoyan

    Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering

    Duan Baoyan, male, Han nationality, is a native of Hebei province. He was born in 1955, graduated from Xidian University, and achieved the doctorate there in 1989. He engaged in research as a postdoctoral fellow at Liverpool University in the U.K. and as a research fellow at Hokkaido University in Japan. He taught at Cornell University in U.S.A. as a guest professor in 2000. Professor Duan has been awarded many prizes, including the first prize of the Shaanxi Provincial Award for Advancement in Science and Technology, and the first prize of the Ministry of Education Award for Advancement in Science and Technology. He was awarded as the Shaanxi Provincial Labor Hero in 2002, and the National Distinguished Returnee from Overseas in 2003. He became president of Xidian University in 2002.

    Zheng Ping, male, born in Guangzhou, China in 1936, works as a thermal physicist, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Professor of the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Professor of the School of Mechanical and Power Engineering, Shanghai Jiaotong University, doctoral supervisor, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Engineering Thermophysics Honorary Director of the Institute, Director of the Microflow and Thermal Control Research Center.Prof. Zheng received his B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Oklahoma State University, M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from MIT, and Ph.D. in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Stanford University. Prior to his present position, he served as Chairman of Mechanical Department at University of Hawaii (1989-1994) and as Head of Mechanical Engineering Department at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (1995-2002).

    Zou Zhigang, male, born in March 1955, Ph.D., University of Tokyo, is now supervisor of doctoral students in the College of Physics and the College of Engineering of Nanjing University, CAS academician, the distinguished professor of "Chang Jiang Scholars Program" of the Ministry of Education, the chief scientist of the National Key Basic Research Program of “973” Project, the head of the “Ministry of Education Innovation Team”, the academic director of "National State Key Laboratory of NBC Protection” in National State Key Laboratory of Academy of General Armament Department, an adjunct professor of Hokkaido University in Japan, a visiting fellow of the Japanese National Research Institute of materials (NIMS).

    WANG Weihua, male, born in July 1963 in Ningguo City, Anhui Province, works as a Material physicist in the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He graduated from the Physics Department of Anhui Normal University in 1987. He obtained a master's degree from the Institute of Solid State Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1990 and a Ph.D. from the Institute of Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1993.

    YANG Mengfei, male, born in October 1962 in Hunan province, researcher, doctoral supervisor, works as a space technology expert at the China Academy of Space Technology, China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation. He graduated from the Northwest Institute of Telecommunications Engineering with a bachelor's degree in 1982. He graduated from the Beijing Institute of Control Engineering in 1985 with a master's degree. In 2005, he graduated from Tsinghua University with a Ph.D. He is currently the chief designer of the third phase detector system of the lunar exploration project.

  • ZHENG Xiaojing

    ZHENG Xiaojing, female, born in Leqing, Zhejiang Province in 1958, Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (Academic Committee of Mathematical Physics); academician of the Academy of Science of the Developing Countries (Academic Committee of Engineering); earned her B.E. degree and M.E. degree from the Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 1982 and 1984, respectively; awarded the Doctorate of Science from Lanzhou University in November of 1987 and remained there as a faculty member. She went successively to the University of Kentucky, Clarkson University, and the University of Delaware in the U.S.A. to engage in cooperative research. In 1992 she was promoted to professor at Lanzhou University. In 1995, she became an advisor of Ph.D. candidates in the discipline of mechanics. In 2009, she was elected a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (Academic Committee of Mathematical Physics) and in 2010, she was elected an academician of the Academy of Science of the Developing Countries (Academic Committee of Engineering). From March of 1996 to July of 2012, she acted successively as director of the Research Department, member of the Party Standing Committee, vice president and dean of the Graduate School concurrently at Lanzhou University. Starting from July of 2012, she serves as member of the Party Standing Committee and president of Xidian University. At present, she holds concurrently the positions of “member of the 8th National Committee of the China Association for Science and Technology”, “vice chair of the Association for Science and Technology of Gansu Province, “member of the Advisory Committee of the National Natural Science Foundation of China”, “co-editor-in-chief of ‘Computers, Materials & Continua’”, “editor-in-chief of the ‘Chinese Journal of Solid Mechanics’ and ‘Acta Mechanica Solida Sinica’”, “chair of the Academic Committee of the Laboratory of Desertification and Sandstorm Disaster Prevention of Gansu Province” and “chair of the Academic Committee of the State Key Laboratory of Turbulent Flow and Complex Systems of Peking University”.
